Again the Prophet and the cartoons

Yesterday I learned that some person, pretending to be al-Qaeda head in Iraq, promised bounty for the head of Lars Vilks, author of the last Muhammad cartoon. (And on the head of the newspaper editor, etc.) He offered extra payment if Vilks “is slaughtered like a lamb”.

I already wrote here (in my native language) that I’m appalied by this cartoon, and would not support it. However, this announcement appailed me much more deeply. There is no excuse for it, for anyone pretending to be Muslim.

A God may be good. A religion, however, is what its followers make out of it. Does it matter if a religion prays to the Only True God etc, if some of its followers seek murder as its tool? How can I be sure that any Muslim I see is not one of them?… I know some really crazy Christians – but none of them ever mentioned that killing or harming a Muslim because of her/his faith may be a good thing!

And more. The freedom of expression is essential and cricial of a truly civilised society. I will be completely appailed by neo-Nazi antisemitic cartoons etc. stuff, too – but will defend the right of their makers to express their beliefs. And anyone who tries to stop them will be my personal enemy, like this al-Qaeda head. A society that forbids the freedom of expression is as good as a company of rabid dogs, and has as much future, too. And a person that pays to make the society works this way, is the primary rabid dog that infests the others. This person must be killed, quickly.

Is there someone around to offer a bounty on his head? I’d like to contribute some money. If he is killed in a way that shows his internal misery, I’d give more. If you have a rabid dog confined somewhere, you may think of ways to help it, or at least to treat it humanely. However, when it is on the street and tries to bite the people around, there is only one way: the bullet, immediately. Kill it before it has killed or infested someone… Let this man get what he gives to the others.

And I think that every normal Muslim will side with me, too.

Which reminds of a headline by AP regarding the violent protests by muslims following the Pope’s statement on Islam several months ago:

“The attacks… were carried out to protest the Pope’s remarks… linking Islam and violence.”
